Perfectly beautiful formal portrait photograph of a society woman and her child. Photograph is black and white, hand signed in pencil: “Pierce 1904″. Also is a stamped debossing with his name and the address of the studio. At Home Portrait Specialist. Very well done and very well preserved. It was preserved under glass in a frame… Very few pieces of his work come up into the modern market. Pierce was an internationally well known portrait photographer (b1864-d1943) who took photos of high ranking society members and other important figures including Theodore Roosevelt’s daughter (Alice Roosevelt Longworth), artists Henry Clay Frick, Thomas Moran, and industrialist John Singer Sargent. His showed his work at the National Academy of Design, the American Institute, The Royal Photographic Society and annually at the Photographers Association of America exhibits. He is listed by the National Portrait Gallery as a socialite as well as a photographer. An amazing piece to own if you are a photographer, collector or a socialite!
