Lot of 4 Photographs of Soldiers Stalking and then Hanging a Man c1890s
Interesting and unusual lot of four (4) small b/w captioned photographs of what appears to be a group of soldiers preparing for the hunt, stalking and finally hanging another man. I have no idea of the nationality of the soldiers, but the all wear Spanish American era uniforms. Campaign hats, rifles, canteens and striped pants. The first image is titled “The Outpost” and man gather for the search. The second is titled “The Advance”. They are climbing over and thru a wire fence. The third image is titled Ready for the? The last word is not visible. Soldiers poised and ready with bayonetted rifles ready to attack. The fourth image id titled Hanging?? The soldiers all surround the victim hanging from a tree. The victim wears the same type uniform as the soldiers. Hands tied behind his back and appears to be swinging. The images are 3 ¼” x 5 ½”. The text in the images appears to be taken by the same type camera as used in real photo postcards where you could write text into the images.
