This vintage and wholly original NASA photograph of the Moon was taken by Lunar Orbiter II in 1967, and shows the cratered landscape around the Oceanus Procellarum from an oblique angle. The probe transmitted photographic data back to Earth in segments, where NASA technicians were able to create composite images such as this one, for scientific and publicity purposes. A rare image, and with the all-important NASA’black-numbering’ on the front and’A Kodak paper’ watermarks on the rear, signifying that this print was produced by NASA at or around the time photograph was taken in 1967.
