Tampa FL Yacht Club Race 8×10 B&W Albumen Photo 1920 Florida Sailboat Regatta
A very old photo in a cardboard protector extracted from a MASSIVE photographer’s ESTATE in Clearwater Florida. This piece was in a room with other photos from this photographers collection. This is not one of his personal photographs but one that he owned and or kept for some reason. You can see that it was actually taken and developed by a different studio in Tampa and had been stored in this cardboard protector where we found it. Measures 8 x 10 and does show somewhere but it looks really beautiful in the frame that it’s currently in can’t imagine how pretty it would be framed up properly. I can only guess on the age of this & I’m guessing between 1910 and 1920. I believe it is the Tampa Bay yacht club or something like that. Photographer for the city of Clearwater for over half a century. Also a Navy enlisted photographer during WW2. After cleaning out the residence & studio in 2014, we have been sorting through over 100,000 photographs for the last 10 years, and are finally offering some of the best ones up for sale individually. We hope to Bring recognition to his life’s work as well as to find homes for the history of an entire city as documented by the city photographer. The photographs include everything you would’ve expected a city photographer to have been present for, from weddings, to new construction, aerial photographs, sporting events, school events, press photography, police, Jaycees, and a really nice, but VERY LIMITED collection of nude photographs from a nudist camp that is still in operation here today. Even more limited, there were a handful of war photographs and film that we were able to save, but it was not much as unfortunately for some reason, he had stored the war photographs outside where they were exposed to the weather, and sadly they had been completely destroyed. The photos that are being offered here were well preserved, found inside the home and studio, in a cool, dry, cellar type setting. This is quite a project for only two curators, so please follow us, and be patient as we slowly unveil the contents of this massive estate. And always, if you see something that you like, please make an offer!
