Rare 1949 D-Day Normandy Crocodile Tank Training Salisbury Plain Press Photo
Size: 8.5 in x 6 in. This press photo from 1949 features a specific Crocodile Tank used in the Normandy Landing of D-Day during World War II. In the photo, you can see how it was used for training purposes in the Salisbury Plain (England). The Salisbury Plain Training Area (SPTA) is the United Kingdom’s largest military training area, hosting live-firing and tactical exercises throughout the year. It is also the location of Stonehenge. While there are photos of training in SPTA are out there, this is the only photo I’ve found of the Crocodile Tank in training practice, and certainly the only photo of this specific tank. Please inspect the pictures, as they give the best representation of condition. May have discoloring, edge or corner wear, marks, creases, fading, smudges, corner or edge bends, tears, or corners missing.
