Antique Daguerreotype of a distinguished gentleman. He has a colonial or Victorian hair style, fancy dress suit with plaid vest. He’s housed in a brass frame in a case, one side of the case is detached as shown. The case is pretty rough – several scratches and scuffing on the outside, missing the clasp to close it. The inside felt on the front is in nice shape. There is no identification or markings. It does have flaws from age and discoloration spots and surface scratches but a very nice portrait. He is a mystery. The size is a 1/6 plate with glass. It does have thin glass and appears to be original based on the tight and tidy packing. There are pics of the back side and don’t want to open it. The surface of the glass looks to be in good condition, I do see some tiny imperfections in the glass and little spots (or tiny specs or bubbles), typical for its age.
