DENNIS HOPPER Signed 1966 Original Photograph “Claes Oldenburg Stamping Cake”. This rare original photograph is entitled “Claes Oldenburg Stamping Cake” and is signed in pencil by the artist on the verso “Dennis Hopper” and dated “1966” (possibly printed later). It is also numbered “1/10″. It is in good condition, measures 16″ x 20″ (sheet), 11″ x 15 ½” (image), and is matted and framed for a total size of 21″ x 25 ½” (there is natural age and wear to the frame). Dennis Hopper was born in 1936 in Dodge City, Kansas, and died in Venice, California in 2010. His photographs are included in the permanent collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, and Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh. Major exhibitions include “Dennis Hopper: Black and White Photographs, ” Fort Worth Art Center Museum, Texas 1970, traveled to the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D. ; “Dennis Hopper: A Keen Eye; Artist, Photographer, Filmmaker, ” Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam (2001); “Dennis Hopper: A System of Moments, ” Museum für angewandte Kunst, Vienna (2001); and “Dennis Hopper: Double Standard, ” Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (2010). His photographs were recently featured in: “Dennis Hopper: The Lost Album” , Gagosian Gallery, 980 Madison Avenue, New York, May 7 – June 22, 2013.
