Bakery, The Morgan Placer Gold Mining Corporation, Kresge Co. WW2 and other historic events. Please follow us as we unveil for public sale, many previously unseen photographs and documents. The Falls City Theatre Equipment Company. Was located at 429 S. 3rd Street in downtown Louisville, now the Omni Hotel’s first Louisville location. The Louisville Historic Preservation committee persuaded the Omni Hotel to save the iconic sign, which has been restored and placed for use in the Omni’s speakeasy. The interior of the building was. Of the art deco period and was covered in every type of photographic equipment you could find, giving off a beautifully eclectic appearance and drawing in window shoppers. Founded by William (Bill) E. Two more generations continued the tradition along with a handful of employees. During their early years, the Falls City Theatre & Equipment Company helped to jump start the beginning of the talking motion picture industry, sprouting up movie theaters & drive ins throughout Kentucky, Ohio & Illinois and supplying others throughout the country. They supplied cameras, camera equipment, projectors, signs, theater seating, carpet, contractors, concessions, and much more. Some of the documents discovered show that they also provided investments and loans to help build the theaters. Once business was concluded in the late 80s, the building’s roof began to cave in and nearly all of the objects of value or historic significance were destroyed from being open to the elements of mother nature. After reaching out to multiple entities to find other items from the company that were left in the building, we were told repeatedly that nearly all of it was destroyed. This leads us to believe that our vast collection of original photography (movie theater marquees, signs, concessions, equipment, architecture, & interior design). Is a one of a kind collection. You will not find reproductions or any of these photographs for sale or being currently used anywhere. However, we are certain that many of these photographs were used in advertisements promoting the grand opening of these theaters.
