If you are interested in the group or several photographs, please let us know. Clemens Kalischer (March 30, 1921 June 9, 2018) was an American photojournalist and art photographer. Born in Germany in 1921, Clemens Kalischer arrived in the United States at the age of twenty-one, a Jewish immigrant whod narrowly survived the Holocaust. One of his few possessions was a book of photographs by Hungarian Jewish photographer André Kertész. Titled Paris Vu Par, it was filled with iconic images of the city. His series of photographs of displaced persons arriving in New York City from displaced person camps in post-World War II Europe, taken in 1947 and 1948, was his most recognized work. Kalischer’s evocative black-and-white images, including his series of World War II refugees, are included in the permanent collections of The Museum of Modern Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Williams College Art Museum, Minneapolis Institute of Art, Museum of Jewish Heritage and several more.
