Original 1931 German publicity photo of PETER LORRE in the legendary film classic “M” directed by Fritz Lang. Exceedingly rare photo found in an old untouched US archive, having originated as an oversized German negative which was re-purposed for use in Denmark (as evidenced by the Danish Film Censor’s mark “statens” at the bottom which is baked into the negative) and then presumably arrived here as a collector’s rarity. Glossy, single-weight roughly 8″ x 10″ gelatin silver print, which was originally found in a U. The stains on the reverse look worse than they are…. They don’t bleed through to the front. “M” remains one of the most famous films of world cinema. It provided the blueprint of the entire genre we call psychological thriller. Authentic first release stills are not easy to find. Here’s a chance to own a piece of the same cinema history at a little less cost.
