There is a Black Ink stamp stating, “KINDLY CREDIT PHYFE” on the back of the photo. There is a handwritten description of the photo on the back, written in pencil. Someone long ago professionally trimmed the borders of this photo. It is extremely rare to find such a fine photo of CLARE LUCE, prior to the 1940s. Early in her career in the 1920’s, she was a Ziegfeld Follies Girl and posed nude for famed photographer, ALFRED CHENEY JOHNSTON. In person, the black tones are not as dark as the computer scan and is more beautiful in person, due to lighter tones. Photo is in VERY FINE condition with minor edgewear.
