RUDOLPH VALENTINO / THE EAGLE (1925). Vintage original 14 x 17 35 x 43 cm. Sepia-tinted matte finish print still photo, USA. Rudolph Valentino, Vilma Banky, Louise Dresser, Albert Conti, dir: Clarence Brown; United Artists. An extremely rare portrait of the legendary silent star in his famous Cossack-style costume for his title role of Lt. Vladimir Dubrovsky, “The Black Eagle”. A classic tale of a Russian army officer, romantically pursued by the Czarina, who dons a black mask to become an outlaw. Here, Valentino plays that notorious outlaw. Adrian, who would soon become famous at MGM, designed Valentino’s costumes for this epic film and the expertise of the MGM staff (for this independently-produced film) was at work including the art direction of William Cameron Menzies. This is an extremely rare oversized print, hand signed in ink by the photographer Nealson Smith. It must come back in the same condition as it was sent. AUTHENTICATION: My name is Walter Reuben.
