VIVIEN LEIGH Vintage Original RARE Photo Dated 1939 Clippings GONE WITH THE WIND
This photo has historical significance related to the career of VIVIEN LEIGH. Newspaper clippings glued to the back show that this was the photo used to announce VIVIEN LEIGH was selected to play Scarlet in GONE WITH THE WIND, back in 1939. There are 2 date stamps on the back, one in January, 1939 and the the other one in December, 1939. Also it was used to notify viewers she and husband, Laurence Olivier, will star and direct STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE in London, in 1948. On the back of this photograph is the original magazine photograph and caption with a black ink date stamp of “January 22 1939″. This very photo was the promotional photo chosen and released by MGM to announce that VIVIEN LEIGH had been chosen to play Scarlet O’Hara in the much anticipated film, “GONE WITH THE WIND”. Affixed on top of this magazine clipping is a newspaper clipping with the same photo, and a black ink date stamp of “December 24, 1939″. On top of those clippings is an additional newspaper article with a “February 27, 1948″ to announce that VIVIEN LEIGH had been chosen to play Blanche DuBois in the London Stage Production of “A Streetcar Named Desire”, with her husband LAURENCE OLIVIER, as the director of the production. Again, this same photograph was used to announce this new character role by VIVIEN LEIGH. There are other date stamps below the newspaper article, stamped by the magazine editors. This photo was a working photo in a magazine collection, and thus was used several times; This explains the wear and tear of the photo, and the editorial markings on the back of the photo. This is a very historical photo. Any collector of VIVIEN LEIGH, “Gone With The Wind”, or classic Hollywood would find this a great addition to their collection. Photo has a small nick and some surface scratches in the gloss layer in the upper left hand corner area but is in good condition, considering it was a working photograph. It has a very tiny pinhole close the upper right corner of the photograph, and two tiny pinholes near the middle-bottom edge. There are numerous creases on the upper corners, one hard crease on the bottom-left corner, and several light creases along the edges. Note: I have dropped the price from 249.99 to 179.99. Thi s is a VINTAGE Original photograph and NOT a REPRODUCTION restrike. Add 50 cents extra for every photo above ten.
