This amazing collection of beautifully-shot and developed 8×10 black & white photographs were produced for the Haiti Government Tourist Bureau in 1953. I presume these are among the images reprinted in the book “A Guide To Haiti, Star of the Caribbean”, the Bureau’s tourism guide first printed in 1953 and revised throughout the rest of the decade. Each photo has its caption typed on a paper label and attached to the back side, and the words Haiti Tourist Bureau are directly typed on the backs. You can actually see faint raised lettering on the front side of the photos where the typing on the back embossed the paper. It is not really noticeable except upon close inspection and no ink shows through. The photos are otherwise still in great shape for their age.
